What is the ideal workflow for designing a mobile app? For as many designers as there are in the world, there are as many answers to this question.
This is even more profound now than ever when apps are designed for numerous platforms and devices, using an increasing variety of tools and processes. Seemingly simple questions like the following ones can sometimes become daunting for many of us, and - when we don’t work alone - they can lead to some intense conversations with our colleagues. Where should we start a project? Which programs and services should we use for each phase of the process? How do we collaborate with our team? What should our deliverables look like? How do we test and evaluate our designs?
This workshop hopes to bring some peace of mind to its open-minded participants. We will not provide definitive answers that supposedly work for everyone in every case. However, we will critically examine the most popular tools and processes out there. We’ll discuss what has worked for us in terms of productivity, efficiency and teamwork. And through a series of carefully selected practical examples, we intent for each one to create, compare and refine their own personal workflows. And above all, keep their sanity!

Understanding the value and limitations of the design process is key to changing the way that a designer brings solutions and ideas to life.
Digital product design may vary from web sites to applications and e-shops as well as software and digital installations. The ability of the designer to grasp the "big picture", to understand user behaviour, be aware of the technology and ask the necessary questions, can be the deal maker -or breaker - in most cases as to whether a product succeeds or not. Within a design-centric organisation or a small start-up, designers often are brought in from the early stages of a product development or can in some cases own the original concept.
The workshop demonstrates the role of a designer from the birth of an idea to its transformation to either a service, software or product. Through various exercises and by using a lot of imagination, we will enable you to understand the big picture and how strategy, user personas, research, interaction, usability and motion come together to create passionate users. Hard topics with respect to defining the minimum viable product, living with imperfections and sticking to deadlines will also be at the centre of this workshop.

What does the term “multidisciplinary design” mean and how it applies on a 360° ad campaign? A multidisciplinary designer is the designer that leads all the campaign’s visual design process, from the landing page’s web design and banners till the smallest icon.
Most designers out there already work across multiple disciplines, such as UI/UX design, web design, print, brand design, video etc.
But how do we start working on the design of a campaign’s assets? How do we approach each platform (desktop, mobile, print, TV etc.)?
In this workshop, we will learn how to “jump” from a print/identity or UI/UX designer to a multi-disciplinary designer and why this skill will help you become a lead designer in an agency or studio.

Your favourite CMS will never create the best HTML & CSS code. You will.
While it is easy to let things flow and depend on pre-written code you must be able to know the ins and outs of HTML & CSS because this will be the backbone of your project. And it is equally crucial to learn how to sustain the health of your codebase.
This workshop will cover the core principles of HTML & CSS and not only. It will touch areas such as Web Standards, Semantics, and Accessibility. Furthermore, it will guide you through the best CSS practices for desktop and mobile and emerging layout modes such as Flexbox. Last but not least, it will help you define the tools and resources that work best for you.
This workshop will be focused on quality, not on quantity. By the end of it you will be a more efficient, agile and independent front-end developer armed with a certain philosophy guiding your projects.

The UX methods workshop will shed light on the most important methods and techniques that are available to UX specialists, designers or project managers looking to understand how users interact with their site or app.
Improving the user experience is a long and ongoing process, but fortunately we have a range of methods, techniques and tools to help us gain real user insight that will inform our design decisions. It can get confusing though... How many users do you need for user testing? What’s the difference between card sorting and tree testing? Why don’t we just run a focus group? How do we create the right personas? Why do we need wireframes? What’s an ethnography study?
All the above and many more questions will be answered through the presentation of the full spectrum of available methods, the differences between them and the pros and cons of each. We will then dive into the most popular methods (focusing on Persona Development, Wireframing, User Testing, Tree Testing) with in-depth explanation of the methodology used for each, with video and live demonstrations, as well as group exercises for participants to apply their newfound skills.
At the end of the workshop participants will fully understand the available methods, when to select each one, and will be perfectly capable of applying the most important ones themselves.
Bring your own laptop if you want to demo some of the methods on the spot!
